New England Patriots rookie running back Stevan Ridley picked up his first NFL touchdown today against the Oakland Raiders. Ridley finished off a seven play, 81-yard drive with a 33-yard touchdown run.
That touchdown gave New England a 24-10 lead. That same scoring drive featured a 32-yard pass from Tom Brady to Wes Welker.
Ridley is not the only Patriots running back to score today. Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis capped off a second quarter drive with a one-yard goal line run to give New England its second touchdown of the game and retake the lead after Oakland went up on a Michael Bush rushing touchdown the series before that.
Green-Ellis leads the Patriots with nine rushing attempts for 43 yards. Ridley has five rushing attempts for 69 yards. Both players also have caught a pass in the game.
A product of Louisiana State University, Ridley was a third-round pick by the Patriots. He had eight rushing attempts prior to today’s game.
