The San Diego Chargers and New York Jets will play this weekend at MetLife Stadium. Surprisingly, it's the Jets -- not the Chargers -- that are favored according to the Week 7 NFL lines.
Sunday's game between the San Diego Chargers and New York Jets is a game that has quite a few of the experts leaning toward the Chargers. The NFL odds makers don't see it being a blowout, however --and don't even see the Chargers as the favorites, in fact -- as the opening line has the Jets as 1½ point favorites at MetLife Stadium.
Philip Rivers and the Chargers probably feel a bit disrespected by that line considering they've lost just one game this season and the Jets had dropped three straight games before defeating the lowly Miami Dolphins last week. The Chargers' record is probably a bit inflated itself, however, as their wins have come courtesy of the Minnesota Vikings, Kanasas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos -- not exactly a hodgepodge of the top teams in the NFL.
Mark Sanchez's Jets are 2-5 against the spread over their past seven games, a number the Chargers oddly mimic, so there's a good chance that the line on this game probably isn't correct if history is any indication. The over-under, however, is probably a decent bet at 45½. Both teams are averaging -- and giving up -- more than three touchdowns per game and there's no reason for that to change this week.
