Carson Palmer will make his first start for the Oakland Raiders when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs
The Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs play an important AFC West game in Week 7, with Oakland in position to make a playoff run and Kansas City looking to recover from an awful start to the year. Oakland made a dramatic move at the NFL trade deadline, trading a couple of draft picks (including next year's first rounder) to the Cincinnati Bengals for the previously half-retired Carson Palmer. He is expected to start on Sunday.
This makes the game pretty difficult to figure out from an oddsmaker's perspective. Palmer is certainly a long-term upgrade over Kyle Boller, but will he be in his first week back in pads? Palmer can't possibly know his teammates and the playbook well enough to play his best possible game this week, but the bookies are still calling Oakland three to four point favorites. Palmer is a question mark, but their defense and running game have been significantly better than KC's this season.
