Atlanta tries to right the ship against a Detroit team coming off its first loss of the season. Detroit is a slight favorite in what could be a real battle.
The Detroit Lions lost their undefeated streak last week at home against the San Francisco 49ers. Matt Stafford and his bunch still look like a pretty good team, but the schedule does them no favors this week with the Atlanta Falcons coming to town for a visit. A team favored to have a real shot at the NFC title, Atlanta has underwhelmed. They got a convincing win over the Panthers last week, and need to continue that trend this week before the media starts writing their obituary.
The Lions were favored by 4 1/2 points in the opening line, but the gap has since closed to 3 1/2 points. Running back Jahvid Best is out this week. Maurice Morris will replace Best against a solid Falcons' run defense. Atlanta is waiting on rookie wide receiver Julio Jones to return to action, and his status for the week is up in the air still. This game could be a real battle if everything plays out like expected. For serious bettors only.
