NFL Week 7 Upset Watch Includes Titans, Chargers And Steelers

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Titans, Chargers and Steelers are on upset watch in Week 7 of the 2011 NFL season.

Last week was bad when it came to picking upsets as I picked the Bengals, Falcons and Patriots to be on upset watch and, of course, all three teams won their games. Who I should have picked were the 49ers, who upset the Lions, and the Buccaneers, who upset the Saints.

Here are the three teams that should be on upset watch in Week 7.

Houston Texans over Tennessee Titans

Where: Nashville, Tennessee

Spread: Titans by three

Why:

Even though the Texans offense has struggled a little without No. 1 receiver Andre Johnson, they still have Arian Foster. The Titans passing offense has been surprisingly efficient but their run game, despite having explosive back Chris Johnson, has yet to get off the ground. I wouldn't expect to see Johnson break out against the Texans' tenth-ranked defense.

When it comes down to this game, I think whoever gets their run game going win and right now I have my money on Foster and not Johnson.

New York Jets over San Diego Chargers

Where: East Rutherford, New Jersey

Spread: Chargers by 2.5

Why:

The Chargers have played one tough game so far in 2011. In Week 2, they few to the East Coast to play the New England Patriots and they lost by a score of 35-21. They have won all of their other games but they've also played the Vikings (1-5), the Chiefs (2-3), the Dolphins (0-5) and the Broncos (1-4). They also won three of the four of those games by a single touchdown.

Against the Jets' tough defense in New York, I don't expect the Chargers offense to be able to do much. The Jets offense may not be firing on all (or any) cylinders right now, but I still think they win at home over the Chargers.

Arizona Cardinals over Pittsburgh Steelers

Where: Glendale, Arizona

Spread: Steelers by four

Why:

The Steelers have really yet to blow me away this season. I know they're good but they don't look like the same team that went to the Super Bowl last season. Having said that, the Cardinals offense led by Kevin Kolb hasn't exactly been awesome either.

The reason I'm picking the Cardinals is because historically the Steelers just haven't been good in Arizona. Over the last 10 times they've played the Cardinals in Arizona, the Cardinals have had a 6-2-2 record. The last time these two teams played outside of the preseason was in Super Bowl XLIII and I'm sure the Cardinals are looking for some revenge over the Steelers for winning the game on a late fourth-quarter drive.
