The Tennessee Titans host the Houston Texans in a pivotal AFC South matchup. Both teams look to rebound coming off of disappointing losses.
The Tennessee Titans host the Houston Texans in what looks like a matchup of the top two teams in the AFC South. Both squads are looking to rebound from ugly losses however, the Texans getting hammered by the Baltimore Ravens last week to the tune of 29-14, the Titans falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-17 the week prior.
Both losses exposed major weaknesses. Without Andre Johnson and Mario Williams available, the Texans looked out-of-sync on both sides of the ball. Matt Schaub averaged just 5.9 yards per pass attempt in the loss without his start wideout. The defense, meanwhile, allowed 402 total yards to the Ravens, including 113 yards on the ground.
The Titans, meanwhile, are still struggling mightily to run the ball, averaging just 67 yards per game despite Chris Johnson's $53 million contract. Against the Steelers, Johnson averaged just 3.6 yards per carry. If the Titans hope to fulfill their playoff hopes, that figure will have to improve. As will a once-promising defense that gave up 432 yards to Pittsburgh.
This week's matchup could prove pivotal in the race for the division crown, with the Texans looking to go 2-0 in the division and the Titans looking to draw even at 1-1.
