The Cleveland Browns host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in a cross-conference matchup between two 2-3 teams. Tarvaris Jackson for Seattle and Peyton Hillis for Cleveland could miss the game with injuries.
The Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns aren't doing so hot this season. It is safe to say that their matchup in Ohio will not be one of the most watched among this week's slate of games. And if a pair of 2-3 teams didn't already have enough troubles, both could be missing significant offensive playmakers from their lineup. Tarvaris Jackson is expected to sit Sunday, elevating Charlie Whitehurst to the start spot for the Seahawks. The Browns, meanwhile, may be without Peyton Hillis due to nagging hamstring issues.
Whitehurst of course started last season for Seattle from Week 9 on in place of an injured Matt Hasselbeck. He didn't look particularly impressive, however, completing less than 58 percent of his passes at a 5.12 per-attempt clip. He will hopefully have some help from a running game that looked functional for the first time this season against the New York Giants last week. Marshawn Lynch had 98 yards rushing on 12 carries in the win.
Montario Hardesty will take over at running back if Hillis is unable to play. Hardesty, in his second year in the league, hasn't been particularly effective in his limited carries however, averaging just 3.6 yards per attempt. The Browns' rushing struggles play right into the strength of a Seahawks' defense that is allowing just 97.8 yards per game on the ground.
