The Detroit Lions host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday after a bizarre week on and off the field. The Falcons will look to string together consecutive wins for the first time this season.
The Detroit Lions have had an odd week, to say the least, kicking off with the bizarre scene at the end of last week's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Feeling slighted during the post-game handshake, head coach Jim Schwartz ran down Niners' coach Jim Harbaugh for a word, creating a mob scene. That pales in weirdness when compared to the brain tumor found in Jerome Harrison that voided a deadline trade deal with the Philadelphia Eagles for Ronnie Brown.
It'll be interesting to watch when the Atlanta Falcons visit Ford Field on Sunday, if only to see if bad things (or in this case, bizarre) do always occur in threes. Of course, it's a pretty good matchup in its own right. The Lions will have to respond to adversity for the first time this season coming off a loss, and will do so with Jahvid Best out this week and likely longer. The Falcons, at 3-3, look to put together consecutive wins for the first time this season and reinvigorate their playoff campaign.
The biggest matchup in this game will be Michael Turner against the Lions' front seven. Detroit has had a lot of success rushing passers this season, but have only been so-so against the run, giving up 130 yards per game on the ground. Turner will look to have a big day after racking up 139 yards and two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers last week.
