The Kansas City Chiefs broke out the wildcat against the Oakland Raiders today. With running back Jamaal Charles out for the season, Todd Haley turned to another of his speedy players, albeit an unconventional one. Cornerback Javier Arenas came into the game in the third quarter for the play. Here is video of the touchdown, featuring the replay as well.
Arenas took the snap, faked the handoff and ran it in for a seven-yard touchdown. That touchdown put the Chiefs up by a score of 21-0.
Jackie Battle was supposed to be the Chiefs main running back today. Instead, Arenas and LeRon McLain have the Chiefs' two rushing touchdowns. Battle has ten carries for 44 yards today.
It’s been a big day for the Chiefs’ defensive backs. A first quarter interception of Oakland QB Kyle Boller gave the Chiefs a 7-0 lead, and they haven’t looked back since.
Carson Palmer came into the game after Kyle Boller threw three interceptions, putting the Raiders in a hole that will be tough to dig their way out of with the game in the second half.
