Rams Vs. Cowboys: Rookie RB DeMarco Murray Tops 200 Rushing Yards

Stay connected with SB Nation

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back DeMarco Murray topped 200 rushing yards against the St. Louis Rams today. With several minutes left to play in the fourth quarter, Murray is close to topping the team’s single-game rushing record.

With just over nine minutes left to play in the game, Murray has 235 rushing yards and one touchdown. Granted, the Rams are the league’s worst run defense, which helps. His totals include a breakaway 91-yard touchdown that put Dallas on the board in the first quarter.

The franchise record for rushing yards in a single game is 237 yards, set by Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith in 1993.

Running back Phillip Tanner took over rushing duties on the Cowboys’ last scoring drive, scoring a touchdown and picking up 25 yards on three carries. It was reminder of just how bad the Rams’ defense really is.

Murray was a third-round pick this year, out of Oklahoma.
