Jahvid Best Injury: Lions RB Likely Out This Week

Stay connected with SB Nation

Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best (concussion) still has not been cleared to practice and while the official injury report will not be released until Friday, it appears doubtful that Best will be able to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Best sustained the concussion, his second during the 2011 league year, in a Week 6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Best previously suffered a concussion during training camp and his career at the University of California was cut short by a concussion.

In last week's 23-16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, veterans Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams split the carries, gaining 94 yards on 18 carries. Morris, Williams and perhaps recent signee Eldra Buckley are expected to get the carries against a Broncos defense that ranks 18th against the run and has given up an average of 156 rushing yards per game at home this season.
