Can Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos upset less-than-healthy Matthew Stafford and his Detroit Lions? The Week 8 NFL picks and predictions don't indicate it being likely.
The Detroit Lions are on a bit of a slide at the time after getting off to a 5-0 start behind the tandem of Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, but they'll look to save face against Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos this weekend. The NFL picks and predictions say the Lions should be able to pull out a victory in Week 8, but Tebow's been known to perform miracles in the past -- and it wouldn't hurt if Stafford's injury causes him to be less than 100 percent.
Peter King, the proclaimed NFL expert over at Sports Illustrated, factored in Stafford's injury as chose the Lions to squeak by in Denver.
Matthew Stafford has played 20 games and sat 19 due to injury in his three-year NFL career. He's in the trainers' room as I write this (and probably as you read it), rehabbing his sprained right ankle, trying to make sure he doesn't become a 20-20 player. "It feels OK," he said hopefully on Wednesday. Hard to pick a game when you don't know if The Franchise is going to take the field. Thus the middling close score.
As far as the other experts are concerned, CBS Sports went with the Lions in a sweep and Chris Mortenson was the lone Broncos backer from ESPN's panel of pickers. Yahoo! Sports didn't have picks posted in their entirety as of this writing.
