The Pittsburgh Steelers could be without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for next week's game against the Tennessee Titans. Roethlisberger injured his left foot toward the end of the Steelers' 17-10 loss to the Houston Texans. He had X-rays of his foot taken and said that he doesn't know if he'll be able to play next week, according to Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Roethlisberger was 16-of-30 for 206 yards and one interception. That pick came on his last throw, ending the game in favor of the Texans.
Should Roethlisberger be unable to play, Charlie Batch will start for the Steelers. He was under center for three games during the 2010 season while Roethlisberger sat out the first four games of the season due to suspension.
Behind the Steel Curtain, our Steelers blog, is certainly ready to weather whatever the results of the X-rays and the MRI show:
We're used to seeing Roethlisberger play through pain, of course, and just last year he admirably fought through an injured foot to lead his team to the Super Bowl. We'll see what the results of the X-ray show, but Steeler Nation has been conditioned to expect the sturdy Roethlisberger to play with whatever ailments he's fighting through.
However, Steelers fans there do understand the prospect of giving Roethlisberger time to heal.
