Danny Amendola Injury: Surgery Possible For Rams WR

Stay connected with SB Nation

Danny Amendola suffered a gruesome looking elbow injury in the first week of the season and some thought it would end his season. The St. Louis Rams didn't place him on IR after it was revealed that he very well could come back this season.

Unfortunately, it appears he's taken a step backwards.

WR Danny Amendola suffered a setback with his dislocated left elbow in Thursday's practice and was sore on Friday, when he was held out of practice. Amendola had another MRI and will have a second opinion this week to decide whether or not Amendola needs surgery.

He was hoping to play last weekend so there was an expectation that he'd be back soon, which makes this more depressing for Rams fans.

As SB Nation's Turf Show Times writes, it's not like the Rams have a plethora of receivers behind him so this hurts.

The Rams have struggled without Amendola in the lineup. QB Sam Bradford has been unable to find another reliable receiver in Amendola's place. Dropped passes continued to plague the Rams offense in their loss to the Redskins today, and have been a big problem in their 0-4 start to the 2011 season.
