Detroit Lions running back Maurice Morris is capitalizing on the chance to play a relatively weak Denver defense. Through two quarters of play, Morris has 44 yards on ten carries. He also added a touchdown in the second quarter that gave the Lions a 24-3 lead over the Broncos. This was his first touchdown of the season.
Detroit turned to Maurice Morris after losing Jahvid Best two weeks ago with a concussion. While the Lions hope Best can return to the field by week 10, Morris was looking to make a good impression as the go-to guy in an offense that mostly relies on Matt Stafford and his receivers to score points.
Last week in a loss to the Falcons, Morris rushed for 50 yards on nine carries and caught two passes. Prior to this week's game, Morris had just 70 total rushing yards on 18 carries.
