Tim Tebow against the Detroit defense? Yeah, that one went to the Lions.
Matthew Stafford threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns, Calvin Johnson had 125 receiving yards and a score, and Maurice Morris ran for 58 yards and a touchdown. But the story of the day was Detroit's defense wreaking havoc on Tebow and his outmanned Broncos offense.
The Lions sacked Tebow seven times, and forced three turnovers; Tebow's two, a fumble and an interception, both turned into defensive touchdowns, meaning that he sort of outscored his offense by himself.
And it's not as if Tebow was much better when he was good. He managed just 18 completions on 39 throws for 172 yards, his only touchdown pass came in fourth quarter garbage time, and his 63 rushing yards tied him for second on Denver's day with Lance Ball ... who required just six carries to Tebow's 10 to get his yardage.
Clearly, Tebow starting is no panacea for what ails Denver, not that the Lions minded poking a little fun at the Broncos' supposed savior: multiple Lions mocked the "Tebowing" trend that swept the Internet in the past week.
With the victory, Detroit improves to 6-2 on the year; Denver falls to 2-5 with the loss.
