The Dallas Cowboys suddenly have a glut of running backs. And that has apparently made the injured Tashard Choice expendable: ESPN Dallas reports that Choice will be waived by the Cowboys to allow Bruce Carter to join Dallas' active roster.
Choice was dealing with shoulder and hamstring injuries this week in practice, and will be given an injury settlement if he clears waivers. Choice had just 75 yards on 28 carries in 2011 for the Cowboys, and was likely made expendable by rookie DeMarco Murray's 253-yard explosion against the Rams in Week 7.
Carter, selected by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, is expected to make his NFL debut Sunday night against the Eagles. Carter suffered a knee injury during his senior season at North Carolina in 2010, and had been considered a first-round prospect by some before the injury.

Tashard Choice Lands With Washington Redskins
The Dallas Cowboys waived RB Tashard Choice last weekend and he was picked up off the waiver wire by the Washington Redskins. Every player released after the NFL trade deadline hits waiver wire which means every team has a chance to claim the player, which the Redskins did, and Washington now takes over Choice's contract which runs through the 2011 season.
Choice was released by the Cowboys to make room for rookie Bruce Carter.
Choice is a 5'9", 210 pound running back drafted by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL draft. His most productive season came in his rookie year when he carried the ball 92 times for 472 yards and 185 yards receiving.
Choice joins a running back group that led by Ryan Torain and Roy Helu after losing Tim Hightower for the season due to an ACL injury.
The addition of Choice also adds some intel for the Redskins, who are tied with the Cowboys for second place in the NFC East. It's hard to predict how Mike Shanahan will use his running backs from week to week so it's a possibility that Choice contributes pretty quickly.
