According to of ESPN's Adam Shefter Twitter account, Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson is expected to be available for this weekend's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Benson was arrested during the lockout for assault, but it was unknown if players would be punished for their transgressions during the NFL owner imposed lockout. Benson was sentenced to 20 days in jail after pleading out to two misdemeanor assault instances in Texas. Benson wound up serving just 5 days right before the start of the NFL season.
Benson was originally suspended two weeks ago, but appealed. Earlier, NFL commissioner Rodger Goodell insinuated that a decision on Benson could come "soon". Per Schefter's tweet however, it looks like the decision will be delayed at least another week. Benson is a big part of why the Bengals have gotten off to their 2-2 start, rushing for 348 yards, which puts him at 6th overall in the NFL. The Bengals are set to face the Jaguars (1-3) this weekend and will need Benson to help get their offense going.
