NFL Odds And Lines Week 5: Bears Vs. Lions

In the first Monday Night Football game in Detroit since October 8, 2001, Calvin Johnson and the 4-0 Detroit Lions are six-point favorites over the defending NFC North champion Chicago Bears.

In the first Monday Night Football game in Detroit since October 8, 2001, the 4-0 Detroit Lions are six-point favorites over the defending NFC North champion Chicago Bears, our partner Odds Shark shows.

To get to 4-0, the Lions had to become the first time in NFL history to win consecutive games after trailing by 20+ points in each game. Once road doormats, the Lions erased a 20-point deficit to the Dallas Cowboys in Cowboys Stadium last week to improve to 4-0. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is healthy and ranks 2nd in the NFC with 11 touchdown pass on the season, with much of those going to perhaps the league's most dynamic play-maker on offense, wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who has a league-high 37 receiving touchdowns since 2008 and could become the first player in league history to score 2+ receiving touchdowns in five games to open the season. Johnson currently shares the NFL record with 2+ touchdowns in the first four weeks of 2011.

The Bears running game and special teams helped them to a 34-29 win over the Carolina Panthers, evening their record at 2-2 on the season. Bears wide receiver/punt returner Devin Hester set an NFL record with the 11th punt return for a touchdown during his career and running back Matt Forte had a career-high 206 rushing yards last week. The Bears have won six straight against the Lions, including a four-point win over the Lions in Detroit last December.
