Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez returned to action today after missing the last two weeks with a knee injury. His return was short-lived, however. He limped off the field after a deep shot from Tom Brady.
Hernandez has since been taken to the locker room. His status or potential to return is still unknown at this time.
Hernandez and fellow tight end Rob Gronkowski form a key part of the New England offense. Head coach Bill Belichick uses the two players to create mismatches with opposing defenders. Hernandez brings speed and the ability to get deep to the table. Gronkowski is a bigger, more physical tight end who sees a heaping helping of red zone targets.
