With seven minutes left in the game, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees directed a 13-play, 89-yard drive to put his team back in the lead over the Carolina Panthers. Brees needed to convert third downs just twice on the drive, but those plays were never in doubt. By the time Brees had the ball at the six-yard line, there was less than a minute left in the game. So, Brees did what he had to: he hit Pierre Thomas with the go-ahead touchdown pass.
Brees dropped back, faked a hand off and then dumped the ball off to Thomas. The running back made it into the end zone with minimal contact for the go-ahead score. The Panthers' Cam Newton was unable to lead a comeback on the final drive of the game.
