The Atlanta Falcons host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in a battle for NFC South supremacy. The Falcons are riding a three-game winning streak behind some strong running from Michael Turner.
The Atlanta Falcons have slowly chipped away at the New Orleans Saints' lead atop the NFC South standing with three consecutive wins. If they can win their fourth Saturday, Atlanta would leapfrog the perennial Super Bowl contenders and take sole possession of first place in the division.
The Saints caught a couple bobbles in recent weeks, the most egregious being a 31-21 loss to the then winless St. Louis Rams in Week 8. The team bounced back with a revenge win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but questions still remain particularly on defense. With Michael Turner on deck, a defensive front that gave up 159 yards rushing to Steven Jackson is particularly concerning.
The Falcons have seemingly solved the offensive problems that plagued the team early in the season. In particular, the running game has found its groove behind Turner, who is averaging over 110 yards rushing over the team's three-game winning streak. A slow-starting passing attack seemingly picked up steam last week against the Indianapolis Colts. Matt Ryan threw for 275 yards with three touchdowns passes, two of which landed in the hands of rookie Julio Jones.
