The New England Patriots are finally making Sunday Night Football exciting, tacking on another touchdown after a first half that featured a 6-2 score at one point in the second quarter. The Patriots currently lead 23-9, however, as Rob Gronkowski has pulled in two touchdown passes from Tom Brady to open up New England's lead.
Gronkowski actually scored on the Patriots' previous possession, but New England had to settle for a field goal after it was determined that he stepped out of bounds before Brady was able to find him in the back of the end zone. The infraction ruined what was an impressive bit of scrambling by the quarterback before a solid catch from his wide receiver, as the video below illustrates.
Following the field goal, the Jets looked like they might be able to answer, but Mark Sanchez decided to audition for Football Follies Vol. 47 first. It is a bit difficult to explain, but the below animation should suffice.
Gronkowski then was able to pull in a second touchdown, one that actually counted, on the ensuing drive. At this point in the game, Gronkowski has been credited with six receptions for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Bill Belichick and anyone counting on a big night from Gronkowski in fantasy can probably relate with the celebration Gronk pulled out after his second touchdown catch, even if it did result in a penalty flag (Sorry, Donald Strickland).
