QB Matt Schaub will miss the rest of the 2011 season with a Lisfranc injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. That's basically a fracture of the foot.
Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said on Monday that Schaub had a significant injury and he would miss some time. At that time he also ruled Schaub out for Week 12 but, according to the latest report, he's now out for the season.
This is a horrible blow to the Texans who look like they're en route to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Matt Leinart will play in place of Schaub moving forward but you can't understate how big of a blow this is to the Texans.
The slightest of silver linings in all of this is that the Texans are coming up on the bye so they'll have two weeks to prepare Leinart to play the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12.
Schaub is having a terrific season completing 61 percent of his passes for nearly 2,500 yards with 15 touchdowns to just six interceptions.
