It's official: LaDainian Tomlinson has been ruled out for the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football against the Denver Broncos. It was reported early in the week that Tomlinson had sprained his MCL, which is typically an injury that takes at least a week to recover from.
Tomlinson suffered the injury last week and suffered a setback in Tuesday's practice. Rex Ryan said earlier in the week that Tomlinson's chances of playing weren't good and that he would likely be a game time decision. Instead, they've decided to rule him out a day early.
Tomlinson, 32, missed just one game in his first eight years in the league, and just one last year, so this is unusual for him. Shonn Greene can expect to see an uptick in carries, as well as Joe McKnight, and rookie Bilal Powell is expected to play for the first time this season.
