The Jaguars had a chance to come back against the Browns. But a goal-line stand by Cleveland preserved a victory.
Jacksonville drove to the Cleveland 2 with seconds remaining, but consecutive incomplete passes by Blaine Gabbert ended the Jaguars' comeback threat.
The game was close throughout, though whether that also made it compelling, until its dramatic finish, is up for debate. Neither team led by more than a touchdown, and Jacksonville's early 7-0 lead, the longest by that margin in the game, lasted just over seven minutes of game clock.
Chris Ogbonnaya paced the Browns with 115 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Colt McCoy threw for 199 yards and a touchdown. For Jacksonville, Gabbert threw for 210 yards, and Maurice Jones-Drew ran for 87 yards and a touchdown.
The win pushes Cleveland to 4-6 on the season. Jacksonville falls to 3-7 with the loss.
