Adrian Peterson Injury: X-Rays Negative On Vikings RB's Ankle

Stay connected with SB Nation

X-rays on Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's injured left ankle were negative, with the team calling it a sprain. Peterson left Sunday's matchup with the Oakland Raiders in the second quarter after landing awkwardly at the end of the run. The Vikings running back was taken to the locker room on a cart a short time later for x-rays and further tests.

According to head coach Leslie Frazier, Peterson did not suffer a fracture, but further tests are needed to determine the extent of the ankle injury.

Tom4_normal Per Leslie Frazier, Adrian Peterson has a sprain and X-ray showed no fracture. They'll do an MRI to check for further damage. #Vikings @TomPelissero via Twitter
