Tennessee Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck left the Titans’ game against the Atlanta Falcons in the third quarter with an injured right elbow. His return is questionable according to the Titans on Twitter.
Rookie quarterback Jake Locker entered the game in place of Hasselbeck. Locker was the eighth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Titans signed a free agent Hasselbeck in the offseason to give the rookie quarterback some time to develop.
Locker made his NFL debut with style. He connected with wide receiver Nate Washington for a 40-yard touchdown pass that the Titans desperately needed. They now trail Atlanta by a score of 10-23 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Hasselbeck left the game having completed 13 of 25 passes for 124 yards and one interception. Depending on the outcome of the game and Hasselbeck’s status, there could be plenty of discussion in Tennessee about which quarterback to use for the remainder of the season.
Here’s a video of Locker’s touchdown pass.
