Atlanta got its sixth win of 2011 with both offense and defense. But Jake Locker nearly brought the Titans back late.
The Atlanta Falcons had a big lead late in their Week 11 contest with the Tennessee Titans, and had knocked Matt Hasselbeck out of it. The former helped, the latter didn't; the Falcons had to hold on late for their 23-17 victory, because Jake Locker nearly sparked the Titans to an unlikely comeback.
Matt Ryan threw for 316 yards and a touchdown, and Michael Turner ran for 100 yards and a touchdown of his own, but the Falcons' defense had dominated the Titans until Locker came in for the injured Hasselbeck.
Then Locker led two touchdown drives, throwing for 140 yards and two touchdowns and making plays on the run, to cut a 23-3 lead to a 23-17 advantage.
But Ryan and the Falcons moved the ball late, keeping Locker off the field and staving off a potential game-winning touchdown drive, to secure their sixth win of the year.
The win pushes Atlanta to 6-4 on the season. Tennessee falls to 5-5 with the loss.
