Nnamdi Asomugha suffered a knee injury and was carted off the field in Eagles practice on Thursday.

We have some potential bad news for the Philadelphia EaglesReports out of Philly say CB Nnamdi Asomugha suffered a knee injury in practice and he was carted off the field.

No word on what the situation is or whether it's a serious injury. It could be a minor tweak or it could be severe -- we just don't know. But anytime a cornerback of Asomugha's caliber goes down, it's cause for concern.

The Eagles host the New England Patriots on Sunday so potentially losing a defensive back, especially your best one, would come at a bad time. It's even worse considering Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie is already out with an ankle injury. Rodgers-Cromartie's status for the rest of the season is unknown.

Asomugha came to Philly prior to the 2011 season with much fanfare. As arguably the best free agent available, Asomugha secured a five-year, $60 million deal from the Eagles that included a reported $25 million in guaranteed money.

The Eagles are 4-6 and may need to run the table in order to compete for a playoff spot. Check out SB Nation's Bleeding Green Nation for more on the situation.
