Thanksgiving Football: Packers, Lions Scoreless Early

Stay connected with SB Nation

The early Thanksgiving Day game promised loads of offensive fireworks with the Green Bay Packers taking on the Detroit Lions in the dome in Motown, but after one quarter, neither team has been able to put any points on the board.

Surprisingly, the Lions got closest as they found themselves within field goal range, but a holding call on third down with the offense primed for a sub-50-yard field goal backed them too far away to try. The Packers, meanwhile, have only had eight snaps on offense, and other than a couple of first down throws to Jordy Nelson, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has been held in check.

The Lions offense has moved well, with running backs Kevin Smith and Maurice Morris gashing the Pack on inside runs and in the screen games, combining for five receptions and more than 70 total yards.
