The Falcons are still in the hunt for the NFC South, but the Minnesota Vikings are still standing in the way.
The Atlanta Falcons are coming off a sloppy victory, but are still in the hunt to win the NFC South. The Falcons are getting healthy with the possible return of wide receiver Julio Jones back into the line up. Quarterback Matt Ryan is looking to get the team back on track after their gut wrenching loss in overtime against the New Orleans Saints. Against the Titans last week, the Falcons struggled to score touchdowns in the redzone and having to settle for field goals. "When we get the ball in there close, we've got to score touchdowns," said Ryan. "That's something we'll work on and try to get better at this week."
The Vikings on the other hand will have to lean heavily on rookie quarterback Christian Ponder, who has shown a lot of promise. Running back Adrian Peterson is likely going to miss the game with a foot injury, so more of the load will be on back up running back Toby Gerhart. The Falcons offense has been sloppy the last two weeks, so the Vikings could potentially play the part of spoiler if their offense can get going without Peterson.
