Nnamdi Asomugha Injury: Eagles Cornerback Is Active Vs. Patriots

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is active today for a big game against the New England Patriots. Adam Caplan reported the news moments ago. Asomugha was carted off the field on Thanksgiving Day. He hyperextended his knee in practice and was questionable for today’s game.

The issue for Asomugha now is whether or not he will be at full speed. A hyperextended knee is not laughing matter, and Tom Brady will no doubt be looking to test the cornerback early. As to how the Eagles will play Nnamdi, there was some speculation that he would mostly be covering tight end Rob Gronkowski, who scored two touchdowns last week. Those two scores set a new record for the fastest NFL tight end to score 20 touchdowns. This is Gronk’s second season in the league.

Philadelphia signed Asomugha as part of their lavish offseason free agent shopping spree. His addition was expected to make the Eagles’ defense one of the league’s best, but he has struggled to learn the system.
