The Seattle Seahawks expanded their lead over the Washington Redskins with a third quarter touchdown catch by wide receiver Golden Tate. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson found an open Tate in the middle of the middle of the field for a 15-yard touchdown. That gave Seattle a 17-7 lead over the Redskins.
After losing Sidney Rice to a head injury in the third quarter, Seattle needs all the help they can get from their other receivers. Doug Baldwin has made some important catches for Seattle today, while Tate and running back Marshawn Lynch have each scored a receiving touchdown.
This was just Tate’s second touchdown of the season and his career. Seattle drafted Tate in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Prior to this game, he had just 15 receptions for 158 yards for the year. Last year, Tate had 21 catches for 227 yards. The touchdown is Tate’s only catch of the day so far.
