The Saints were merciless as Drew Brees led New Orleans in a romp over the slumping Giants.

The Saints didn't score in the first quarter, but then the offense took off as Drew Brees and New Orleans put a thorough beating on the Giants in this NFL Week 12 Monday Night Football game, winning 49-24.

The Saints quarterback put on a show with four touchdown passes and a rushing TD. New York was powerless against the Saints attack, which totaled 577 yards. It was the second-most yards given up by the Giants in franchise history.

With the win, the Saints improve to 8-3 and maintain their hold on the AFC South. After the loss, the Giants drop to 6-5 and take another blow to their hopes of an NFC East title and postseason bid.

Let's hand out some superlatives.

Player of the Game: Drew Brees, who else? The Saints quarterback controlled the game, throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for one more just because. He had 363 total passing yards, for the fantasy football stats-junkies.

It Was Over When: The game was probably over when the Saints piled on the points at the end of the half, but Pierre Thomas ended any chance of a Giants comeback when he scampered into the end zone from 12 yards out in the fourth quarter to answer back for a Victor Cruz touchdown.

Stat That Doesn't Really Matter of the Game: Eli Manning completed a franchise record for consecutive completions with 19.
