Marcus McNeill Heads To IR; Chargers Sign Jared Gaither

The Chargers picked up OT Jared Gaither off the waiver wire after OT Marcus McNeill was placed on IR.

The San Diego Chargers have placed OT Marcus McNeill on injured reserve, ending his season. The offensive tackle has missed the last two games with a neck injury suffered in Week 10 and it was reported previously that he was in danger of missing the rest of the season.

OT Brandyn Dombrowski is expected to fill in on the left side the rest of the year.

With the open roster spot, the Chargers claimed OT Jared Gaither off the waiver wire. Gaither, who was a 2007 supplemental draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens, hasn't seen much action since the 2009 season. He missed all of 2010 with a back injury and played sparingly in Kansas City.

The Chargers continue to be stung by injuries in what is turning out to be a disappointing season. They're 4-7 and stand three games behind the Oakland Raiders in the AFC West.
