This week's Sunday Night Football game looked like it might be yet another primetime stinker after the first half submitted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens resulted in a 9-6 score highlighted by a trio of Billy Cundiff field goals. The second half was much more exciting, however, as the hard hitting from the first half was supplemented by Joe Flacco finding Torrey Smith in the end zone to give the away team the victory.
The Ravens looked like they might not be able to lead the late comeback when a sure touchdown to Smith on a long bomb from Joe Flacco went right through the rookie receiver's hands.
Smith redeemed himself just a little while later though, hauling in a 26-yard touchdown pass -- despite pass interference -- to cap off a five-reception, 71-yard night and secure a rare Ravens victory in Pittsburgh.
The Ravens were bit by a bit of bad luck early as Ray Rice took the game's opening play 76 yards to the end zone before the run was called back due to a holding penalty on Smith. Rice seemingly scored later on in the drive, too, but the officials blew the whistle due to forward progress before the Ravens eventually settled for a chip-shot field goal.
Rice would eventually find the end zone in the fourth quarter as he finished the game with 18 carries for 43 yards to go with 53 yards on five receptions in the passing game while Flacco ended up with 300 yards on 47 attempts with his lone touchdown pass being the game-winner.
Roethlisberger was anything but excellent as his final line showed he completed 19 of his 35 passing attempts for 310 yards, including a touchdown and an interception, but the veteran quarterback came up in the clutch when he was needed. Down 16-13 on third-and-five from the Ravens 25-yard line, Roethlisberger scrambled until he was able to find two wide receivers open in the end zone as Mike Wallace picked off a pass that looked like it was intended for teammate Antonio Brown.
