Giants Vs. Cowboys Score: Tony Romo Sacked For Safety To Give New York Early Lead

Stay connected with SB Nation

The New York Giants ended punting on their first possession of the game, but surprisingly, they still escaped with the first points during the Sunday Night Football game of the week. The Dallas Cowboys helped them out quite a bit, however, as Tony Romo ended up basically running into the end zone for a safety.

Romo started the possession on his own six yard line, but after pressure from Jason Pierre-Paul, the quarterback stumbled a bit into the end zone and ended up gifting the Giants two points and an early lead.

On the Giants following possession, Eli Manning connected on a long bomb to Hakeem Nicks for 64 yards before the offense began to stall.

Manning and company had three plays to attempt getting into the end zone following what looked to basically be a Hail Mary pass, but instead had to settle for a 5-0 lead following Lawrence Tynes hitting a 23-yard field goal.
