After a 5-8 start and seeing their playoff hopes slip away with a loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs have decided to fire head coach Todd Haley. The move had been rumored for months so, while it is surprising, it really shouldn't be.
The immediate question facing the Chiefs is who the interim head coach will be. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chiefs have told members of the organization that defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel will be the interim coach. Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times has reported that the Chiefs previously approached Crennel about becoming interim head coach buthe had been reluctant. ow, Crennel takes over a Chiefs team that's six days away from hosting the undefeated Green Bay Packers.
Crennel is the most logical choice as the Chiefs interim head coach. He has past experience as a head coach with four years running the show in Cleveland and among the Chiefs assistant coaches he's probably the best suited to become the interim head coach.
