Stopping Tim Tebow Is Key, Patriots Say

Stay connected with SB Nation

The New England Patriots are playing Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos this weekend as they continue their march toward the NFL playoffs. The team is aware they can't look past the Broncos quarterback, however, as that's apparently been the key piece of the game plan this week.

The Patriots discussed what to look for with the Boston Globe on Friday, with Rob Ninkovich pointing out that Tebow is definitely a player they've been focused upon during preparations.

"We just have to prepare this week like any other week, and know his strengths and his weaknesses, and know that he's a quarterback that can make plays with his feet,'' Ninkovich said. "He obviously has a skill set as a quarterback that not many have.

"Any quarterback you go against who can run, obviously you don't want to let them get out of the pocket and scramble, and do all those things that they can do. We've played a few quarterbacks that have the ability to get out of the pocket and make some plays, so we just need to make sure we do a good job of not letting him do that to us.''

After watching Tebow's fourth quarter heroics in recent games, that game plan might sound easier than it actually will be in reality.
