Packers Vs. Chiefs: Green Bay OT Derek Sherrod Carted Off The Field With Leg Injury, Second Packers OT To Leave The Game

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Green Bay Packers lost right tackle Derek Sherrod to what looks like a serious leg injury. Sherrod was injured as Kansas City Chiefs outside lineback Tamba Hali came around the edge. Hali was spun into Sherrod’s leg, sending the Packers’ right tackle to the ground.

The training staff brought out an air cast and put it on Sherrod’s leg before carting him off of the field.

The loss leaves the Packers perilously thin at offensive tackle. Sherrod was in the game to replace starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga, who left the game with a knee injury in the first half.

Sherrod was the Packers’ first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Green Bay memorably won the Super Bowl last season after dealing with offensive line injuries all year, including among the offensive tackles who were hit especially hard.

Kansas City is holding onto an 19-7 lead with just under five minutes to play.
