The Oakland Raiders got seven points from their defense to add to their lead over the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon. Oakland defensive lineman Tommy Kelly sacked Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford and forced a fumble. Linebacker Aaron Curry recovered the fumble six yards for a touchdown. That gave Oakland a 27-14 lead with just over seven minutes left to play in the game.
Curry’s fumble return followed two field goals from Sebastian Janikowski, aka Seabass, including a 51-yarder, a distance which has become de rigueur for the Raiders’ kicker.
Raiders’ quarterback Carson Palmer has been sharp in the game, completing 29 of 35 passes for 327 yards and a touchdown. His top receiver has been Darius Heyward-Bey, who has eight catches for 155 yards and a touchdown.
Oakland is chasing the Denver Broncos in a wide open AFC West race. At the moment, Denver is losing to the visiting Patriots in the fourth quarter.
