When Andre Carter went down with an injury in the first quarter of the New England Patriots' game against the Denver Broncos, it was obvious right away that he wouldn't be returning to the game. Carter was taken to the locker room on a cart for a leg injury, and now indications are that the leg injury is a serious one. Carter's injury was to his quadriceps, and it will require season-ending surgery.
Carter's injury is a serious blow to the Patriots, whose pass rush has not looked quite as fearsome as in years past. Carter has been the team's best pass rusher, producing 10 sacks on the season. However, there is some reason for optimism. Carter was replaced in the game by Mark Anderson, who performed very well and gave fans hope that the drop-off in production will not be too severe with Carter out of the lineup.
