Thanks to the Denver Broncos' win streak, the surging interest in Tim Tebow and the relatively consistent interest in the New England Patriots and Tom Brady, the hype for the Sunday matchup between the two teams was huge. It attracted plenty of interest from casual fans and the media build-up rivaled some playoff games. So, it's no surprise that the television ratings for the game were massive. According to Sports Business Daily's Austin Karp, the game did a 19.5 rating overnight.
That's not only the biggest rating that CBS has done this season, it's the biggest rating that they have done for a game in four years. The network didn't get the late "Tebow Time" finale that they would have liked, but they won't be too disappointed. Now, CBS can only hope that the Broncos can make a run into the playoffs. The ratings for a playoff rematch between the two teams would be staggering.
