The Miami Dolphins dumped a veteran backup quarterback of their own today. Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network reported that the Phins released Sage Rosenfels today. While the football world waits to see where Donovan McNabb lands after being released, Rosenfels could be another option for teams looking to add experience to their depth chart.
Earlier in the week, Peter King confirmed a report from a Houston radio station that the Texans could be interested in Rosenfels. After losing Matt Leinart, who replaced Matt Schaub, the Texans are expected to be in the market for help at quarterback. Rosenfels knows Gary Kubiak's offense, having spent three seasons in Houston. If the Texans did sign him, he could still be a backup to T.J. Yates, a spot currently held by Kellen Clemens.
The Dolphins had the quarterback on the non-football injury list. The Dolphins picked up Rosenfels in October, but a blood infection that caused the Giants to release him resurfaced after three weeks.

Sage Rosenfels Claimed By Vikings Off Waiver Wire
The Minnesota Vikings claimed quarterback Sage Rosenfels off waivers today, according to a report from Fox Sports. The move comes a day after the Vikings released Donovan McNabb, and a day after the Dolphins waived Rosenfels. Minnesota gets a veteran quarterback to work with and backup rookie Christian Ponder.
Rosenfels spent the 2009 season in Minnesota, backing up none other than Brett Favre. Rosenfels, 33, came to the league in 2001 as a fourth-round pick of the Washington Redskins. He has started 12 times, mostly during a three-year stint with the Texans. He has a 62.5 percent completion rate in his career with 30 touchdowns and 29 interceptions.
Rosenfels started the season with the Giants, but strep throat and a blood infection kept him off the field. Miami claimed him, but he spent his time there on the reserve/non-football injury list.
Rosenfels was claimed while no team took a chance on McNabb or his remaining salary. Joe Webb, a second-year player, is the Vikings' third quarterback, for now.
