Only three teams have clinched playoff spots in the NFC -- Green Bay Packers (NFC North title and first round bye), San Francisco 49ers (NFC West title) and New Orleans Saints (playoff spot). A lot more can happen in the NFC this weekend as six teams have a shot to either clinch a playoff spot or improve their seeding in the playoffs.
The Packers already have the NFC North wrapped up as well as a first round bye. They can clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs simply by winning this weekend or with the 49ers losing.
The 49ers have already clinched the NFC West and they can secure a first round bye with a win plus a Saints loss.
The Saints have clinched a playoff spot but they can secure the NFC South title simply by winning this weekend.
The Cowboys haven't clinched a playoff spot yet but they can do so in two ways: 1.) Win plus a Giants loss or tie; 2.) Tie plus a Giants loss.
The Falcons, like the Cowboys, aren't in the playoffs yet but they can clinch a spot in three ways: 1.) Win or tie this weekend; 2.) Cowboys loss or tie plus a Bears loss or tie plus a Cardinals loss or tie; 3.) Giants loss or tie plus Bears loss or tie plus Cardinals loss or tie.
The Lions have a shot at clinching a playoff spot this weekend in a number of ways: 1.) Win or tie; 2.) Bears loss or tie plus Cardinals loss or tie plus Seahawks loss or tie plus Cowboys loss or tie; 3.) Bears loss or tie plus Cardinals loss or tie plus Seahawks loss or tie plus Giants loss or tie; 4.) Bears loss or tie plus Cardinals loss or tie plus Seahawks loss or tie plus Falcons win or tie.
