VIDEO: Steelers RB John Clay Scores First NFL Touchdown

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Pittsburgh Steelers activated RB John Clay from their practice squad this week after veteran Mewelde Moore sustained a knee injury Monday against the San Francisco 49ers. That move is paying immediate dividends as Clay just took his first NFL carry ten yards into the endzone for his first NFL touchdown.

The Steelers now lead the St. Louis Rams 10-0 midway through the 2nd quarter.

Before the game, Clay was told he would see time on the punt team as well as the backup RB. After Rashard Mendenhall scampered 52-yards to the Rams' 10, he needed a breather and in came Clay, who then punched it in.

Clay has ten yards while Mendenhall has 97 on ten carries. Charlie Batch is also playing well, throwing for 77 yards on six-of-eight passes, though he does have one interception.
