Down 3-7 and facing third-and-10 from the New York Jets’ one-yard line, the New York Giants needed to make something happen. Quarterback Eli Manning connected with Victor Cruz on a short pass to the right side of the field. Cruz caught the ball, danced around two defenders, leaped over the outstretched arms of a third and raced down the sidelines for a 99-yard touchdown to give the Giants a 10-7 lead.
That play gave Cruz 128 receiving yards on just two catches. This is the second time in his last four game that Cruz has topped 100 receiving yards.
Prior to this game, he led the Giants with 1,194 receiving yards on 73 catches with seven touchdowns. Not bad for a player who saw action just three times last season as a rookie. Cruz was signed in 2010 as an undrafted free agent.
