The New York Giants lead their fellow MetLife Stadium tenants, the New York Jets, by a score of a 10-7 at halftime. Both teams are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive with just one game left in the regular season after this one. If the second half of the game is anything like the first, it may come down to the final ticks of the clock.
Jets kicker Nick Folk missed a 44-yard field goal with two seconds left in the second quarter. That kick would have sent both teams into the locker room with a 10-10 tie.
The Jets scored first on a Mark Sanchez 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Josh Baker. Sanchez has accounted for 145 of the Jets’ 185 total yards. They have a big advantage in time of possession with almost nine minutes more than the Giants.
The Giants got the lead on a 99-yard touchdown by Victor Cruz in the second quarter. Eli Manning hit his receiver on a short third down pass from the Jets’ one-yard line on that play.
Defensively, both teams have shut down the running game. Giants second-year defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul recorded his 14th sack of the season.
