Despite having nothing at stake, most NFL experts predict the Houston Texans to beat the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.
The 8-7 Tennessee Titans will be looking to keep their AFC Playoffs hopes alive when they travel to Reliant Stadium to take on the 10-5 Houston Texans, who have already clinched the AFC South and are locked in as the No. 3 seed in the AFC Playoffs.
The Titans need a lot of help to make the playoffs and are not expected to get any help from the Texans, who have lost two straight and will be looking to get back in the groove before they venture into the first post-season appearance in franchise history.
Mike Florio and Gregg Rosenthal of NBC Sports/Pro Football Talk both expect the Texans to right their ship and eliminate the Titans from playoff contention. From Florio:
Technically, it’s a meaningless game for the Texans. But with two ugly losses in a row, the AFC South champs need to build some confidence and momentum before the postseason begins. Though Tennessee still has a shot at the postseason, they’re not ready to beat a quality-yet-flawed team on the road.
Five of the eight experts at ESPN are picking the Texans, as are three of the five experts at CBSSports.com and Sports Illustrated's Peter King, who notes that Wade Phillips is back.
